LOOK UP: MIAMI COLOR THEORY on The Betsy Orb

January 1 – February 6, 2026, nightly 6-11 PM, at The Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL.

Look Up is a six-minute looping motion-graphic projection by Laura Paresky Gould, presented as part of her ongoing Miami Color Theory project and installed on The Betsy Orb in Miami Beach.

The projection brings together original Miami Color Theory photographs and videos shot on iPhone, vintage film images from the late 1990s, and select vintage Miami postcards. These source materials are reimagined through stop-motion and motion design, transforming the Orb into a continuous composition of color, movement, and perception.

The Betsy Orb is a sculptural fiberglass skybridge designed in 2016 by Shulman Design, connecting The Betsy Hotel and the Carlton Hotel across the alley and conceived as both architecture and public art.

With thanks to The Betsy Hotel for their support and for making this projection possible.

Gold Dust Lounge x Miami Color Theory
This sold-out event at the Miami Beach Bandshell combined live music, original visuals, and multi-sensory design to explore Miami’s creative pulse. Guitarist Russell Mofsky & Gold Dust Lounge, and DJ Erick Paredes, along with percussionists Jose Javier Freire and Indio Jackson, provided a dynamic soundtrack of soul, funk, and cinematic instrumentals, while visuals by Laura Paresky Gould—based on her Miami Color Theory work—transformed the venue into a projection-mapped world of light and rhythm.

Photography, stop-motion animation, and video played across the Bandshell’s canopy, stage, and LED screen, syncing live with the soundscape. Guests were invited into a fully immersive experience of sight, sound, and surprise.

Presented by the Rhythm Foundation with support from Bandshell Laboratories and the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation’s CreARTE grant.
